Jobs Creation Record 99th Straight Month | Recruiting Tough

Job recruiting increasing, but more needs to be done to assist IT, R&D, technical, engineering, scientific and manufacturing technology entrepreneurs to grow jobs
Jobs Report by the Labor Department showed today that 312,000 new jobs were created last month. This was the 99th straight month of job creation, which was another new, all-time record!

Job creation was across the board with Healthcare leading the way with 50,000 new jobs. Other significant job creators were the sectors of Professional and Business Services (43,000 positions), Food Services and Drinking Places (41,000 jobs), Manufacturing (32,000 positions), Retail (24,000 jobs) and Construction (38,000 jobs).

However, not shown in the report, but being experienced anecdotally by not only our recruiting team, but also many staffing professionals across the nation, recruiting engineers, scientists, information technology (IT), research and development (R&D) as well as manufacturing technology talent is getting harder by the day. We literally are in a ‘War For Talent’.

The demand for engineers and technical candidates far outstrips the supply of candidates. As a result, companies need to recruit more aggressively formulating novel recruitment strategies.

This is why I created the 12 Commandments of Recruiting to help our clients. The first of these commandments is included below

Recruitment Tough In Tight Engineering, Technical Job Market

Over the last 18 months Strategic Search Corporation recruiters have increasingly found that although the candidate demand is increasing, the supply of skilled engineers, scientists, IT, R&D, technical and manufacturing technology talent is very limited.

This problem is magnified for employers seeking high demand, skilled candidates for open positions. This includes scientists, engineers, R&D (research and development), IT (information technology) and manufacturing technology candidates especially for cutting edge fields like IoT (Internet of Things), AI (artificial intelligence), robotics, VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality).

In these high growth fields jobs are staying open for many months due to a short supply of job candidates. This makes recruiting manager’s jobs very, very difficult. As a result, we recommend, being very, very creative with your staffing approaches.
