Phone Interviews
Phone Interviews
Scott: What we’re doing here is simulating a telephone interview.
Consultant Sabina Hernandez: The key to a telephone interview is that the same selling strategies apply as to selling in person. The only difference is that the customer is not in front of you.
Scott: That’s right and as a result I have several additional recommendations. First is you want to smile when you dial. What that means is the smile when you are talking to somebody. Kind of like this.
Practice this with your friends and family this evening. See if you notice the difference.
Consultant Sabina Hernandez: The next tip is to not accept any call waiting calls during the phone interview. There’s nothing more distracting to an interviewer than when you put them on hold and accept a friend’s call.
Scott: Next is turn off the television and the radio and make sure somebody is watching the kids.
Under no circumstances do you want to be disturbed.
Consultant Sabina Hernandez: Next have a script in front of you with your top 10 accomplishments. Use the list you created in part two or the O part of the Real Benefit Exercise. This will serve you as a teleprompter serves a news anchor. You can always use a script to refer back to when you get off track. And mostly remember the mantra of sell, sell, sell.
