R&D and innovation are alive and well in Chicago! Last night at the UIC Innovation Center, I had the good fortune of meeting many of the finalists for the Chicago Innovation Awards. Though I did not make the 2nd cut with my new e-learning tool (Please go to The Real Benefit Exercise for more details), I was uplifted by all the unique ideas.
I met Wes Bolsen from Coskata whose company is developing biofuels. I also met Dr. Lin, a podiatrist with a unique application to reduce the time for healing of ankle sprains. I even met a graduate student outside the UIC Innovation Center who engineered a DeLorean to be a traveling office complete with computer screen and projector for presentations!
This all points to a growing base of scientists, engineers and technology people who have unique R&D ideas in the Chicago area. All the more reason to locate a branch or move your company to Chicago!
