Push For Job Success Even In Tough Times!

Though the employment landscape continues to be horrific (e.g. Sunday’s Jobs section in the Chicago Tribune was once again tiny due to a lack of viable employment opportunities), you need to continue to be vigilant! Just sending out resumes is not enough. Instead, you need to engage in a rigorous interview preparation strategy.

Since landing a job is a numbers game, you need to continue to set goals and record progress. For example, you should set a goal of meeting 10 new people every day and share your 30-second elevator pitch. This is the case because you cannot control the outcome of landing a job, but you can control your own efforts in the employment process. The key is hard work not grand plans will help you succeed! This means that you need to push yourself even when there is “no light at the end of the tunnel.” This will ultimately help you succeed in landing a job!
