Many Negative Employment Figures<\/h2>\n

The U.S. Labor Department<\/a> announced today that 20,500,000 non-farm jobs were lost last month, pushing the unemployment rate to 14.7%. This was the largest over-the-month increase in history.<\/p>\n

Additionally, U6, which is the broadest measure of unemployment and underemployment<\/a>, registered 22.8. This means that 22.8% of the U.S. workforce is either unemployed, stuck in part-time jobs or too discouraged to seek work. This is 1 in 4 people you know!<\/p>\n

Some Sunshine In The Sea of Gloom<\/h2>\n

Despite all these negative figures, some employers are still hiring. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)<\/a> numbers also reported that the labor participation rate was 60.2%. Though this was a drop of 2.5%, it still means some employers continue to do job recruiting.<\/p>\n

This particularly true within the Strategic Search Corporation<\/a> niches of engineering<\/a>, technical<\/a>, scientific<\/a>, information technology (IT)<\/a>, research and development (R&D)<\/a> and manufacturing<\/a> technology recruiting. However, because job candidate supply way outstrips demand workers must be even better prepared for their all-important job interviews.<\/p>\n
